Rough sleepers in a part of London are to be given reading lessons.

Westminster Council will launch the project in a bid to help homeless people find out about benefits, housing and other services.

The report in today Evening Standard says it comes after hostel workers in Westminster discovered that almost half of homeless people using their services cannot read.

Homeless people will be offered a reading “coach” when they are assigned a place in a hostel.
