ShadowIt’s a hat-trick of wins for Michael Morpurgo.

His novel Shadow has won this year’s Red House children’s book award.

He’s become the only author to win the prize three times in the awards history.

The book tells the story of boy who is befriended by an army sniffer dog in Afghanistan.

It’s been awarded for her debut novel The Tiger’s Wife.

The 25-year-old was praised by the judges as a “truly exciting new talent”.

The annual award recognises the work of fiction written in the English language by women.

The Cat Who Saw Stars (Cat Who..., #21)Lilian Jackson Braun has died aged 97.

She was the author of “The Cat Who..” books about a crime-solving journalist and cat owner.

Her first book was published in 1966.

She passed away in a hospice in South Carolina.

Best-selling author Jennifer Worth has passed away aged 75.

The writer who lived in Buckinghamshire wrote the popular Call the Midwife trilogy and died after a short illness.

Her books were based on her own experiences of being a nurse in the east end of 1950s London.

Each book sold almost a million copies.
